ClassroomsCare Program

This year, our class is proud to participate in Scholastic Book Clubs' ClassroomsCare Program. That means, when our class reads 100 books by December 19, 2008 Scholastic Book Clubs will make a donation of books to needy children through its Literacy Partner; the Pajama Program. This year, our class is excited to read for the Emergency Baby Pantry. We will track the number of books we read in our classroom. The point of the initiative is not just to encourage reading but to empower children to make a difference in the lives of other kids. Reading IS giving in the ClassroomsCare programs!

***If you were unable to attend our Open House, please stop by or call me to schedule a Parent/Teacher conference to be held the first week of November. Thanks!

ME BOXES

It is time for us to create our "Me Boxes". This means your child (with your help) takes a shoe box and inside of it, they are to put things that tell about who they are. Everything must fit inside the shoe box and it can include things like pictures, books, small toys, ribbons, etc. They are putting together a box that they can share with the class that will allow everyone to know something about them.

We have a schedule for doing this and the children who do them on a certain day are the only ones to bring their "Me Boxes" to school that day. They will return home with them that same day.

A word of caution, don't send any "treasure" that is breakable. It is so sad to lose a special treasure by dropping it.

Thank you for your help on this. They can decorate their "Me Boxes" if they want to. Have fun putting these together!

"Me Boxes" Schedule

Monday, Sept 8: Orange Table

Tuesday, Sept 9: Red Table

Wednesday, Sept 10: Yellow Table

Thursday, Sept 11: Blue Table

Friday, Sept 12: Green Table

Off To A Great Start!!!

We survived our first week of kindergarten! We had a great week of learning! We learned a lot about Wilder School. We have learned how to find our way around the building, established routines and made many new friends. We have also learned about classroom and playground rules. We are learning that school is a safe and fun place to be. Thanks for helping your child have a great first week of kindergarten!
