The Wilder PTA is introducing a new program this year call Wilder Snack Pack program. Every Friday, backpacks filled with nutritious child-friendly food will be provided to Wilder families in need at no cost to the family. The objective of this program is to provide food that can easily be prepared by a child in case there are times over the weekend where additional food maybe necessary to support the family. This program is modeled after several programs in Springfield and throughout the United States. This program takes into account the child's well being and their privacy.
PTA has allocated money to support this program. However, we are also going to ask for donations of food items to sustain this program throughout the school year. There will be a drop off box near the front office. Below is a list of items we are in need of for this program:
Breakfast bars/ oatmeal packets
Peanut butter in plastic jars
Canned meat
Individual microwavable servings of ravioli, Mac n' cheese, spaghetti, soup
Individual cereal boxes
Peanut butter/ cheese crackers
Fruit cups/raisins/ trail mix
Rice/pasta
Individual apple sauce
Any food donations are greatly appreciated. Just keep in mind what would be convenient and easy for a child to prepare in addition to being healthy. If you have questions, please contact Christy Jarvis.
